Demand Fair Water Rates

MLGW has proposed a 3-year water rate increase starting in 2027 and its headed to Memphis City Council for approval. After delivering a 1,000+ signature petition, the pressure is working: we're down to a 12% rate increase for residents and 20% for commercial and industrial users. BUT there is still a steep regressive discount and aquifer conservation is not built into the pricing structure. Is it fair that the largest water users pay less per gallon than residents? No!

Reach out to City Council today and demand: No to a 3-year rate hike; No to a residential rate increase in 2027.

10/20 @ 4pm: Pack the Room! Data Center Pause

We're still waiting on the promised water recycling facility from xAI -- meanwhile there are no guardrails for data centers to be built in Memphis. Communities across the country are passing data center moratoriums in order to draft real community protections and guidelines for water use, power sources, and job creation. It's time we do the same.

Strengthen the Groundwater Board

Did you know Shelby County is only place in TN with a Groundwater Board? No new aquifer protection programs have been established since the Groundwater Board was created in the late 1980s. It's been 39 years and there is still no Groundwater Protection Plan. Let's make a community-led Groundwater Protection Plan happen!
